Bridalplasty Show Shows Us the Ugly Truth

Bridalplasty: Women face off in new reality TV low

There is such a thing as the “good ol’ days.”

There was a time when this sorta scum-sucking tripe didn’t clog the airwaves. When plastic surgery was odd and our concept of beauty was expansive.

A time before the augmented, homogenized, cookie-cut image became the ideal.

A time when we didn’t compete like ravenous hyenas over anything and everything or gleefully transgress decency for 15 minutes of callow TV fame.

The producers of this tripe are glorified leeches sucking off the pain and dysfunction of other human beings…and they are little more than self-satisfied reprobates who justify their immorality with the simple fact that they are making a profit.

While I haven’t met up with this particular program, I do think we pay a high price for our TV viewing. The biggest cost may be what is happening to our brain. The exposure to a daily diet of sales pitches, not responding to any prior request of ours, unconnected one to another, often repeated, lasting typically 30 seconds, composed with little regard for truth and much regard for manipulation, must affect us. To preserve our sanity, we learn to tune things out and to regard all messages with cynicism; we also learn not to expect anyone to present a train of thought that lasts more than 30 seconds. The “content” often reinforces the commercial breaks. Not only do students not read; there is genuine question as the whether their attention span can support the effort.

“When plastic surgery was odd and our concept of beauty was expansive.” This article is right on the “money.”
